STRONGEST WIFE 2011: The title of Strongest Wife 2011 was awarded to Ashley Hart this year. I suggest we make a cup and re-award it after each wedding to the wife best able to defeat the others in arm wrestling.

Saturday morning, I woke up around 9AM feeling horrible.

I went in the bathroom to shower and before I could enter, I was vomiting up bile and snot into the toilet. I had assumed, in error, that I had just been tired last Thursday and Friday after work. They had been long days, and maybe the feeling of needing to sleep was natural.

But it wasn’t. It was a head cold. A head cold that had drained into my stomach overnight and tore up my stomach lining.

So, when I tried to eat oatmeal while my roommate was in the shower, I had to puke out the window onto our fire escape during hurricane-level winds and rain. It was quite dramatic looking, I would imagine. A shirtless, pale as all hell Mexican/Norwegian crouched on his fire escape, heaving in the torrential downpour.

I had to puke a little today before coming into work, but I think the worst of it has passed and now I can depend on multi-vitamins and pain-killers to get through the rest.

BUT, last Friday, before all the puking, I only suspected a head cold.

And that’s where Nate and the Nettie Pot come into play…

P.S. I’m pretty high in the last shot of this video. I thought you should know so you can tell my normal red-eye with my intoxicated red-eye. My mother is always the one calling me out on this, so I don’t know why I would cut that shot out or try to convince you I wasn’t high. It was marijuana. Simple, non-lethal, almost-legal marijuana. If you have an issue with me getting high on a Friday night after work, I would love to discuss it with you, because I’m 98% certain whatever you think is wrong.

Boring Video Blog: Whiskey Night

I saved this video of whiskey night because the night I shot it was before something. And I didn’t want the people at that something who were relying on me to be like: “He sampled all that Whiskey before doing this?”

Anyway. That thing went fine, because I drink responsibly.

I’ve been hella busy this week, ladies and gents. But! That doesn’t mean I have been Boring Video Blogging any less.

I hope to rejoin my online community in a few days, so stick with me.

Until then:

Kate QN makes fun of my Boring Video Blogs, then I go to THE BOX premire, talk to director Richard Kelly (DONNIE DARKO) and watch as Cameron Diaz rushes past me…

Boring Video Blog: Boat Art Party

I love the band with the Chris Cornell-esque lead singer and the dancing girl that was obviously his girlfriend and/or f*ck buddy.

The BOOZE MELON

Because what else are Nate, Ryan, Jess and I going to do with a watermelon?

There is cursing in this, but who the fuck are you to judge us for that?!?!

Matt Myers, friend of myself, Jess “Real Jess” Frantz and Nate Patterson of Serious Bob fame, came into town on a lark. On his first day here, I thought I would take him to get a Spicy Redneck at Crif Dog in the East Village.

For those of you unfamiliar with this gastrointestinal pleasure; it’s a hot dog, wrapped in bacon with chili, jalapenos and cole slaw. It’s great.

This first meal lead Matt on an afternoon quest to “Eat New York,” or at least the Village and at least 5 semi-famous New York foods.

This video documents that.

Thrash and Nate have formed a guitar/mandolin band called Greensleeves. They mostly play “Greensleeves.”

The debut gig was at Nates-Birthday-Slash-Housewarming party last Saturday.

Turns out “Greensleeves” is a lengthy and repetitive song, so I cut in some other footage of the cake and the people around the cake.

Due to my drinking, I only shot video when I was around the cake. There are other parts of the apartment, I swear.

I also have videos of Greensleeves playing “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “Auld Lang Syne.” Someone said I should upload them all to Facebook, but - once again - due to my drinking I can’t remember if that person was serious.

FInally! The last part of my San Francisco Boring Video Blog!

And rather than sum it all up again, here’s the e-mail sent to my family:

THE DEAL: I got a new Flip Ultra HD camera for my birthday AND Rick decided to donate a kidney to my Uncle Jim last week. The whole thing seemed like one of those adventures people might want to know about, so I filmed it.

THE VIDEOS: All are in HD unless otherwise noted and hosted by a site called Vimeo. Rather than linking you to my blog (http://readitordont.tumblr.com/ - for the brave), I’ll just link to the videos here in all their HD glory. If you want to TURN HD OFF, lat your mouse hover over the video and click the “HD is ON” button to turn Hi-Def off in case you don’t want to suffer the loading time.

Hope some to all of you enjoy some to all of it.

-Dave-

I’m half-awake and very slightly hungover. It’s not because I drank a lot, it’s because I smoked two cigarettes in a row right as I got of my flight and was waiting for my baggage at La Guardia. I hadn’t eaten much - a danish in LA 7 hours prior and a pulled-pork sandwich in Charlotte 2 hours before - and those two cigarettes stunted my appetite.

But I just wanted them so bad after 7-8 hours of not being able to have one.

Anyway, three tall boys and no additional food later I fell asleep. Now, I have this light buzzing headache that I’m going to have to try and ditch the rest of the day. Fun-ness.

That being said, my Twitter followers seem to be enjoying my mother. Good news for you all then, as this fourth installment of my San Francisco video blog features her doing her thing once again.

This time, we go to Alcatraz.

Parts One, Two and Three are at those links and I’ll hopefully have the fifth and final part up tomorrow, where my dad closes out the story of his kidney donation, scars and all.

I’ve got laundry to do and stuff like that and the haze of a light hangover to do it in.

Arrrr! This be Part 3 of my San Francisco video blog.

Part One and Part Two mostly covered my father giving a kidney to my uncle, but the rest of the trip has mostly consisted of healing, napping and hoping that the doctor gave them both travel-ready bills of semi-health.

Not only that, but I’ve reached my limit for free HD uploading to Vimeo, so it’s only normal-rez from here on out.

Part Three (above) features my parents and I taking in the series finale of Battlestar Galactica, so if you haven’t seen the series…well, don’t watch this video. It runs about 8 minutes and you’re not going to miss anything groundbreaking concerning my father’s health.

Part Four is actually cut together and lasts about 15 minutes. It’s about our trip to Alcatraz. There’s only going to be 5 parts and the fifth one will close out my Dad’s surgery.

Just FYI, so you know what’s coming and how to spend your precious time. : )
