Life’s become like the books
from my childhood
double-paged illustrations
where you must search and find objects
yet everything and everyone looks
vaguely the same
dressed like a peppermint candy cane
or a barber’s pole
or the American flag
if no one was feeling blue
and the sun shone so bright it drowns out
the stars, still twinkling in the day but
drowned out by a full spectrum of white noise
from an ignited ball of gas
burning and looking at the world below
Where’s Waldo?
